What is a trustworthy little car that is good on gas?

I am thinking of like a Ford Escort... give me your suggestions...
What is a trustworthy little car that is good on gas?
my mom has an Escort , it has 250,000 miles on it and still going, I have a 92 saturn with 270,000 on it and drive it daily, both are near the 40mpg mark


so there you go , just so you know the escort was actually built by mazda for ford

I am currently driving an 06 corolla I've put 80,000 miles on it in the past 2.5 years and have had no troubles I get 35 MPG around town and 40+ on the high way.

Reply:So far Prius :) And any Toyota in general! They are GREAT cars. I've used Fords and Chevvies in the past, and I found they didnt run quite and long as the Toyotas had and also had more break downs with those :(
Reply:Nissan one of the toughest cars i have ever drove and ive had many been driving over 30yrs ive torn up way more cars than mostr people has ever had.... back roads logging road and just old country roads and i drove them all like i had stole them... and nissan was the only one that i never torn up.... ... they good on gas and they run for ever last one i had was running when i drove it to the junk yard had 480,000.... and a few months after i when back and brought parts off it amazing cars
