How can I fix this problem with car batter?

I changed the car battery and now when I Connect the positive and negative wires the car turns on. The key is not in the ignition. I have a '01 Pontiac Grand Prix. What can be wrong?

wow, that is wierd. maybe the ignition has some sort of faulty connection or needs to somehow be reset. I'd try to find a pontiac forum.

this could be the security system sorting its self out. However, you say the car turns on, do you mean it actually starts?

Reply:had that happen once, trying to remember. I also looked all over the net but couldn't find anything. I would pull the starter out and see if it does it off the car. I just can;t remember.
