Shadow VLX600 oil: Since this is a relatively slow-revving engine can I use regular 10W30?

I've been told that unlike the "pocket rockets" that turn at over 10,000 rpm that the Shadow 600 is perfectly happy with standard automotive oil. Does anyone have information on this subject?

Synthetic oils should not be used in motorcycles with WET clutch (unless stated it is OK). This is explicitly stated in Valvoline website. MOBIL1 makes special motorcycle synthetic oil but NOT the regular Mobil1.

I don't know if Shadow uses WET clutch or not, so check that for yourself.

Also the synthetic oil provides few protections:

(1) resistance to high temp oil breakdown

(2) resistance to cold temp freeze

(3) resistance to sludge formation

(4) superior lubrication.

So even though the shadow may not be revving high, it ANY of the above is what you want, then it might not be a bad idea.

Good Luck...
