Black and Decker Simple Start?

i have one of those but i cant get it to charge ill plug it in and press the recharge unit button it turns green but it just keeps beeping at me when i dont push the button both the lights are red whats wrong plz help me i really could of used this to day but i just need to know if there is a short or if its just defective can any one help me
