Two rear wheels are hot?

the two rear wheels were very hot after 20 min driving. I am not sure if they were hot before that, since we smelled the rubber burning then. The two front wheels are only warm and all the tires are warm too. Those two rear wheels feel like 50 to 60 degree C (140 F), since I can only put my hand on it for couple second. What's the problem? I just got the car and it already gave too many problems? I am a new driver. Please give me a hand.

Thanks in advance!

dont smoke your tires....... stay off the gas

It sounds like your rear brakes are not releasing fully. They may be adjusted too tight (either because someone over tightened them, or because the self-adjusters are not working properly), or perhaps your parking brake is not releasing completely.
Reply:what kind of car? my first instinct is you might need a four wheel alignment, (not joking) . the other thing to check is if the park brake is seized on, heating up the brakes , rims and tires

good luck either way take it to a reputable garage with an alignment rack
Reply:just a thought but u can check ur tire pressure to if thats extremely low ur tires will get very very hot quickly
Reply:I'd suspect a parking brake problem first. Rusted front cable. Maybe both rears are over-adjusted.
Reply:Could be many things, some stated properly previously. It could be a bad prop valve depending on what kind of vehicle we are talking about, seized parking brake cables, improperly adjusted push rod on brake booster, over adjusted rear brakes etc....Most shops out there will check your brakes for no charge so why dont you find a reputable repair facility that does that and take advantage of the free inspection.
Reply:Check the tire pressure when cool. You may be running low pressure, this can cause heat build up in the tires.
