What is the difference with touch up paint and primer paint?
primer goes under the paint so you dont need as many layers touch up goes where u can see the wall/ other paint through the top coat

Touch up paint repairs stone chips and scratches. Primer is used to prep the surface before applying the topcoat.

Reply:I think primer is what you put on a surface before you put the actual paint on. I think touch up paint is paint you get to just do small areas. I could be wrong though...you should ask a Home Depot employee to make sure.
Reply:Primer is only when you paint the car from ground up (or a whole section. It goes UNDER the regular paint. Also primer is not considered paint. It PRIMES the surface for paint.





The touch up paint it to make repairs for small chips, and scratches.

Reply:Primer primes what you are going to "touch up" so the color behind it won't show. Of course, if you are not changing the color, primer is a waste of time and money.





Also, using primer can even the tone of the "touch up" considering how old the original paint job is and if it's really old a "touch up" is a waste of time because it will never blend properly. It will always stand out as an "eyesore".

Then the actual color coat is applied. Finally, a transparent clear coat is applied. The clear coat gives a car that "glossy, wet" look.





Touch up paint is just that color coat paint used to fix small scratches.
