I lost the key to my car. can i change it to where it works with a different key?

you would need to replace the ignition switch and the door locks, it will cost you quite a bit probably.
Reply:Not that I know of .. it'll probably be worth it to just have another key made.





See a lock smith
Reply:You can go to a dealer or to a automotive locksmith.





They will swap out the locks for you. The cost depends on where you go and what kind of car you have (luxury line, cheapo line, etc.)

Reply:okay a much less costly option would be to have a locksmith make you new keys.
Reply:Major changes to your doors and ignition seems silly. Spend $25 dollars and call a locksmith they will even drive out to your car and cut a key right there on the spot.
Reply:yes you can and the cost depends on the car it start off usually about 65 bucks per lock and goes up but usually you can rekey your locks call your local locksmith and it does take a little time some times you may hav to replace the ignition but it depends on the car
