Try disconnecting the stereo, then disconnect the battery, connect the stereo with the battery disconnected shut the door then connect the battery. It use to work for my jeep! you may have to put a screw driver in the latch that your hood closes on.

You don't need to worry about the linkages or a 3rd pedal

It is a full days work, if not more for a mechanic, with proper tools and a hoist. For someone at home in their own garage, it would be a nightmare to say the least.
Dont waste your time and money. Buy the car you want rather than modify one.

i have to pull over every 25feet or so or crawl at like 15 miles an hr to make it up the hill, then i guess its ok on flats but feels pretty sluggish. its almost like its a fuel problem?

Reply:Test your fuel pressure. Have you changed the filter lately? Is there a leak? Test your injectors. An easy way to do this is remove the air filter housing, start the vehicle, unplug the wiring harness going to one of the injectors. If it dies the other injector is not putting out enough fuel. If it stays running the injector is good. Do the same for the other one.
Reply:Most likely fuel pressure. TBI spec approx 8-12 psi.
Common on these for pump to be bad and not able to pump enough gas going uphills.....bigger load on pump.
Reply:probly not fuel,, sounds like the converter is cloged,, or you have a egr valve sticking,,,It also could be out of time, timeing chain could be stretch or even jump a tooth ,this will cause the valve train to open too soon or too late when the piston reaches top dead center, thus would cause slugish power,,, does the engine smoke?? rings could be bad low compresion,, start simple Im giveing you posibilties,, But I would go with the converter and egr first,,,then ignition timeing, and so forth,,

I'm not too sure they could bend aluminum pipes, but I bet they could set you up with some stainless steel pipe. Make sure you get them mandrel bent, so there aren't any creases in the bends. Should cost anywhere from 100 to 600 dollars depending on how long it takes and how much pipe you need

If you want more boost , why not look at a bigger turbo , better exhaust , a chip for the ecu , better intercooler, new fuel pump, and a little more time understanding how it all works.

I have an 85 Ford Ranger 4x4 and I need to replace the front rotors. The rotors have built-on bolts ( no, their not the rotors that you slide onto the tire bolts)...it looks like they have a 4 lug center bolt that holds them on, but I don't know the name of the tool. I have left my Jaguar in the garage for the last 3 months. Yesterday I tried to start it and nothing happened. I guess the battery is dead so will try to jump start it today.

but you've got a new one, so there may be a problem with your alternator
an alternator is basically a type a electric generator to keep your battery recharged during driving
as far as charging the battery while you're away is up to the type of charger you've got
i've heard of chargers that are made for that but i wouldn'e know exaclty
all i've ever had was a beat up old charger from the 90's
Reply:Sure, that's not a problem.
Reply:I leave weeks at a time. All the time. I usually just disconnect my battery terminals. The last time I left my car was for 6 months, and my car is 8 years old. I never have any problems. I am pretty sure though that a trickle charger is not meant to be left on a battery longer than the recommend time. Which is until it is done charging. Should say it right on the charger.
Reply:There is no problem doing what you want to do, however i would do the following.
When you buy a battery charger, make sure it is a good quality one. Make sure that it will cut out once the battery reaches a certain voltage, and make sure that it is capable of being plugged in for an extended period of time.
Take the battery out of the car and place it on a blanket on the ground (not onto cement, as cemet will flatten a battery) and, if the battery has removable caps on the top, loosen them off.
Plug the battery charger into a safety plug, and plug the safety plug into the power outlet and then connect the battery charger to the battery.
It may seem like overkill, but you are bypassing possible problems.
1. The battey charger shorting out and burning down your house.
2. The battery exploding or leaking acid onto your car, at least if it does leak, its only onto an old blanket.
Reply:the reason that the battery went dead id because the car still uses a little power to keep the memory alive in the cpu and stereo. a low amperage charger would do a good job at maintaining the battery for you.

but you've got a new one, so there may be a problem with your alternator
an alternator is basically a type a electric generator to keep your battery recharged during driving
as far as charging the battery while you're away is up to the type of charger you've got
i've heard of chargers that are made for that but i wouldn'e know exaclty
all i've ever had was a beat up old charger from the 90's

Reply:I leave weeks at a time. All the time. I usually just disconnect my battery terminals. The last time I left my car was for 6 months, and my car is 8 years old. I never have any problems. I am pretty sure though that a trickle charger is not meant to be left on a battery longer than the recommend time. Which is until it is done charging. Should say it right on the charger.
Reply:There is no problem doing what you want to do, however i would do the following.
When you buy a battery charger, make sure it is a good quality one. Make sure that it will cut out once the battery reaches a certain voltage, and make sure that it is capable of being plugged in for an extended period of time.
Take the battery out of the car and place it on a blanket on the ground (not onto cement, as cemet will flatten a battery) and, if the battery has removable caps on the top, loosen them off.
Plug the battery charger into a safety plug, and plug the safety plug into the power outlet and then connect the battery charger to the battery.
It may seem like overkill, but you are bypassing possible problems.
1. The battey charger shorting out and burning down your house.
2. The battery exploding or leaking acid onto your car, at least if it does leak, its only onto an old blanket.
Reply:the reason that the battery went dead id because the car still uses a little power to keep the memory alive in the cpu and stereo. a low amperage charger would do a good job at maintaining the battery for you.

1997 Pontiac Sunfire and when driing I have rear end noise. I can also make the noise by just pushing on the rear end / tunck when Im not driving. The best way for me to describe it its ounds like my tries are lose when driving and when push on the rear it the sound only happens one push at a time.
At 1st I thought it was my spare tire but I took that out and took it for a drive but I still had the noise.
I'm thinking its my struts but Ive never had a car with them.. got rid of my Jeep to save on gas :)

What is enamel car paint?
It is old school paint that doesnt use a clear coat for that shine on your car, also it is very toxic for the enviroment (auto type)not as bad as emron, but isnt used unless your car is very old and you should not paint over your car with it. you may have damaged the flux capacitor if you have a leak in the exhaust. you can get this checked out at advanced auto, they do assessments on flux capacitors and install free if you buy one from them. just make sure its' operating at 1.21 jigawats.

Car Air Conditioning Problem?
I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT, It has about 65K Miles...
Today was a very hot day, when I went to turn on the AC, it blew hot air at first then blew out not really cold air not even cool, just air. I am not sure what the problem is that is causing this to happen, could it be because it was 100 degrees out?
Also, how can I fix this problem from home?

i Own a 96 mitsibishi eclipse spyder-gs as of 2 weeks now and out of no where when i go to start my car in the morning i cant enter any gears.... i can only be in neutral...even when applying decent pressure the stick will not engage and when i slightly move the stick down to reverse the gears grind immidiately...so basically the car cannot move... i figure first thing to check would be the transmission fluid but its not labeled...can anyone give me a decent description of where i put in the transmission fluid and what type i need? thank you

If you have a automatic with overdrive, the transmission is toast by now. Find a good trans guy or dealer where the trans mechanic has at least 10yrs experiance, those auto trans are a major pain, the manual aint no fun either

Has anyone seen this before? no info as to the type of noise or even the make model or year. Bear with me . people do not realize that we do not all drive the same type /model / year of car. Or that we all live just down the street. The internet can be a great source of info . But this has gotten ridiculous. We have people from all over the world asking silly questions with minimal info. How do you answer ? Or do you even bother? BTW ,my lights flicker sometimes. Do you think it could be a short or it it something I should worry about. ( it`s on my boat) . huh?.....lol.....well, it will be ok as long as it reaches normal operating temp....around 185-195 degress.....i can say this, you will not have a heater in the winter....with ur fan running all of the time, the engine will not reach 160 in the winter and thus no heater...plus, the lower the engine temp, the more wear on the engine clyinders....its ok for now, but get it fixed right before winter...

Mercedes w124 260E problems?
I have a w124 260E 1990 model. The car has been parked at a garage for 2 years as I was overseas. Now when I start the car, the engine fires up without a problem but dies after 10-15 seconds and if I accelarate it dies even faster but one crank and it starts but dies after a few seconds again. Oil pressure is full and idle speeds seem to be decent slightly above 1000rpm. While the engine is running, I cannot seem to engage the gear from P to any other mode although I am pressing the brake. Lastly, the AC and power windows seem to have failed too. The stereo works fine though. What is the problem? Thanks

The charging system is probably not up to it. I dont know anything about your model but as far as the major jap brands go if they dident come with lights or a starter from the factory the stator does not have enough output to run a headlight. For some brands you can buy a higher output stator and some brands you have to get the stock stator rewound (more windings = more juice) search the web for stator rewinding. The charging system is probably not up to it. I dont know anything about your model but as far as the major jap brands go if they dident come with lights or a starter from the factory the stator does not have enough output to run a headlight. For some brands you can buy a higher output stator and some brands you have to get the stock stator rewound (more windings = more juice) search the web for stator rewinding. fuel gauge is marking pass full not moving , friend told me change the fuel level sending unit but dont know could i change it thru the cargo area or do i have to drop the tank?

Reply:Drop tank is only way. did you check to make sure the guage is working properly. Make sure tank is as empty as possible, spilled gas sux even more

the blower motor is out, or its the fan speed switch.....ford's blower switches sux and goes out alot.....remove the wire from the blower motor, and see if you have voltage going to it...if you do, the motor is bad, if not, check all fuses, then its probably the switch...

What is the difference between an ignition switch and an ignition cylinder? I'm having the hardest time, turning the key on when i put the key in, I already had the starter changed and i'm regretting it, turns out it might just have been the ignition switch(so I read)--anyone?

Like you cant turn the key or when you move it to run it dose nothing. If you cant move it its the key / ignition cylinder but i dont know why you would replace the starter if you cant turn the key... and if it does nothing then it might be a clutch safety switch / neutral safety switch or the starter

you would need to replace the ignition switch and the door locks, it will cost you quite a bit probably.

I'm not sure what carb it came with, but I bet a 600 cfm carb would work just fine if it's stock or modified. Probably try to get a Holley carb, because I heard that they're better than Edelbrocks.

I have a '66 Dodge Dart and nobody can fix the brakes!?
I've had this car in and out of several shops, and after rebuilding the master cylinder and replacing the brake booster, the brakes still didn't work right. After the master cylinder was rebuilt, the shop even sent it back to make sure it was rebuilt properly, but supposedly nothing was wrong with it.
There was a hissing sound whenever I stepped on the brakes, and at the same time the engine would rev up. I had to push the brakes to the floor just to make them slowly stop the car, and usually if I didn't pull away from a stop sign just right, the car would stall. After looking at it for a while, we found and fixed a vacuum leak. Now it doesn't hiss as loudly when I step on the brakes, but now they don't work at all! The brake fluid is full and doesn't seem to be leaking, and I've had the brakes bled several times already, but not after fixing the vacuum leak.
Can anyone explain to me what is wrong with my car, or how to fix it?

You can do a pressure test on the front brakes to see if the calipers are clamping with enough force. Or you can take a leap and swap out the front breaks.
If I'm not mistaken the 66 Dart uses front DRUM brakes. They are by design VERY difficult to stop. DRUM brakes have about 1/2 the stopping power of disc brakes. That's why Corvette started using DISC brakes just in 1965.

make sure there is a check valve in line with the vacuum line to the booster.
Reply:you need to find an old mechanic who knows what hes doing cause these guys seem to be unaware. thats a simple brake system. if you got full fluid and nothings goin on id say a problem between pedal and master cylinder. you sure youre not losin fluid from the rear valves or somethin if not its gotta be the master they should gaurantee there work i hate that

Reply:It could be that you just need to "pump" the brakes once or twice. I'm not entirely sure of what this does physically, but I know someone who has a 60's camaro, and you need to pump the brakes to get it to stop fast enough.
If that doesn't work, it is probably your vacuum booster might be bad. After you fixed the vacuum leak, do you still have to floor the peddle?

Sounds like All the wheel Cylinders might need to be Rebuilt, rubber Boots %26amp; Seals are leaking. 42 Years Old, Brake Lines could be Bad/Coming Apart Inside. Check Shoes %26amp; Drums for Glazzing! Is the "Brake Hardware" in the Drums still good.
NOTE; Never want to hear "Everything is Good".......If it's not working Properly Everything isn't Good!!!!
