When I turn on the recycle air button in my car, it makes a loud sound.?

Not sure why this is but if my car is not warmed up and I have left the recycle air on or if I turn it on right away my car makes a loud sound. It has gotten more frequent now and sometimes it doesn't matter if my car is warmed up.

Have the belt and tentioner inspected for wear or tentioner frozen, and make sure to have compressor looked and see if it is or is not siezing up

Reply:its probably the air conditioning compressor kicking on... moving that selector switch can make it come on, even if the A/C isn't turned on.. They can make strange noises, when the A/C compressor clutch is bad, or if the belt is loose... the easy way to see if this is the problem, is to just unplug the wires going to the compressor, %26amp; see if it still makes this noise..
