truck has 102k miles great shape, but runs rough. rebuilt carb new fuel pump, filter, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil. runs good when it wants to. usually bad when cold, and sometimes when warm. if i hold my hand over the carb it starve it for air it starts to idle a little better. what else can i replace

Wow, you've already done nearly everything I could think of...
Does it have a carb? Or are you talking about the throttle body for the fuel injector?
You might try running some fuel injector cleaner through it - or consider replacing the rails if they are clogged.
Either that or you might've gotten a bad plug wire, or coil.

Check your vacuum lines for cracks.
Reply:vacum leak from a hose.intake gasket leaking,or egr valve is bad
Reply:vacuum leak or check your catalytic converter. That many miles, probably about due. My money says a vacuum leak most likely.
Reply:It sounds to me like a vacuum leak or fuel starvation. Check the carburetor base gasket for leaks by squirting a bit of WD-40 around it, if the idle improves for a moment then dies down, you've found your vacuum leak, you can do the same thing around the brake booster hose that goes to the intake manifold, it's a usual suspect for a good sized vacuum leak as well.
If it's just idling rough, try adjusting your mixture screws. You may be running the carb a little too lean. If the carb can take a slightly larger jet, go up one size. Definately verify that you don't have a vacuum leak first though, otherwise you're just masking one imbalance with another.
