1991 labaron with automatic tranny having issues?

I have a 1991 labaron with an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION that is having some issues.

The car will drive in reverse just fine, but when i put it into drive it will go to about 20mph than it will act like i put it into neutral and drop down to 0mph and rev but when i turn the car off and on again it will do the same thing.

Let me get to 20mph and act like it is in neutral.

I have notice that my fan will do a weird thing to. It will go like normal than all of a sudden stop and than start right back up.

Along with it doing that I notice that the Clutch assy stops spinning when it does that.

The car drove just fine when I bought it but like 2 days later it started doing this and now it wont drive for more than 20secs.

I changed the Tranny filter but without prevail

Does anyone know anything about 1991 chrystler labaron convertable.

Or what could be causing the car to do this.

Is it a bad tranny or something simple?????????

If this started happening 2 days after you bought it, the previous owner sold it because he/she could not figure it out either.

I owned an old (mid 90) Dodge Intrepid and I had similar problem with my tranny. Eventually I gave up (even with the help of a mechanic) and trade it in. I didn't want to sell it as I didn't want to stick the next guy with the problem. I told the dealer about the problem - so it was their responsibility.

Good Luck...

I would replace the battery if it's more than 4 years old and remove and clean the battery cable connectors with a wire brush as shown in the video below. Then also have the battery and charging system checked. Watch the dash voltmeter when you have a problem and see if it's jumping up and down even when the engine's not stalling. Next, monitor the voltage at the computer's fuse to make sure it's not dropping out momentarily, but you must use an analog (not digital) voltmeter to see it happen.

When you removed the transmission pan, was there a lot of contamination and grey sludge material? Has the transmission received regular maintenance? Most automatic transmissions fail before 200,000 miles in my experience.
